When this happens
You moved funds from an old HSA into this one as a rollover, but the deposit got categorized as a New Contribution instead. This can happen if the wrong option was selected during the deposit, or if the source of the funds wasn't specified.
Why it matters
A rollover doesn't count toward your annual contribution limit, but a New Contribution does. If your rollover is mislabeled, the system thinks you contributed more than you actually did this year, which can incorrectly push you toward (or over) your annual limit.
To fix it
Select the New Contribution in question under Transactions
Recategorize it as a Rollover
Enter the amount
Enter the rest of the required details and submit
Once corrected, this is reflected on the tax forms sent at the beginning of April. If nothing needs correcting, you can file your taxes any time.
